Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Jingshe Village, Zengxi Township, Longyan, Fujian. It was named by Fujian Party of Regional Geological Survey in 1977.


Lithology and Thickness

Siltstone. Composed of siltstone, sandy mudstone, siliceous mudstone and sandy conglomerate intercalated with limestone and chert. Thickness 10−170 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Disconformable contact: The bottom usually overlies disconformably on the Lindi Fm with chert, calc-siliceous clastic rocks and iron-manganese layers.

Upper contact

Conformable contacts from west to east: with the overlying Laohudong Fm in areas west of Shanghang-Liancheng-Qingliu, with the overlying Chuanshan Fm along Zhangping-Yong’an east of the above areas, and partially with the Qixia Fm further east.

Regional extent

Distributed in southwestern Fujian, and scattered exposures at Nanxi Village, Nanxi Township, Fuding County, northeastern Fujian.

Fossils

The Fusulinids contained in the formation correspond to the Profusulinella zone west of Shanghang-Liancheng-Qingliu, and to the Fusulina-Fusulinella, or Montiparus or Triticites zone east of those areas.
